Hi everyone. Thanks to all those who bought and sold tickets in the 2009 TDF sweepstake. The draw has taken place. You can see your star (or dogs!) here.

The club 25 Mile TT Championship was run off in ideal conditions on the N11 on July 2nd, with fast times all round. First home was Dave Peelo with a low 55 followed by Denis Cummins (57) just pipping Mark Prendergast by 8 seconds. Will Byrne (58) and John Connagton (59)also broke the hour, John for the first time ever, well done!. Rose Leith took the Ladies title with a 1.10, with Linda Haug riding a 1.11 for second. Many other PB’s were set on the night, the ones I know of include Roy Bowden (1.04) Conal Higgins Jnr (1.06) and John O’Sullivan (the other one!) (1.07). Full results here.

Great performances from Sorrento riders in Round 7 of the National Points Series race held at Djouce, promoted by MAD. Conal Higgins, Matthew Cosgrave, and David McKenna took 1st, 3rd and 4th respectively in the Junior race, a fantastic achievement by the lads. Paddy Mackey took 5th place in the Vets race. Well done to all!
A fine 5th place finish from underage rider Enda Ryan in the third race, the Calary to Djouce CP saw him go 4 points clear at the top of the table in the interclub league. Conal Higgins Jnr also rode a fine race to take 8th place on the night. See the full results and table here.

The club offers its condolences to John Piggott on the death of his mother Agnes. Funeral service , Church of Ireland, York Road, 11am Sat 13 June.

The Mick Byrne Randonee is a very important event for the club. Mick was a founder member and the main diving force behind the early development of the club. He died in 2007, aged 81 and the Mick Byrne Randonee is staged in his honour.

The 200k will start at 8am, the 160km at 9am, and the 100k will start at 10am. All routes leave from and finish at Dalkey United FC, Hyde Road, Dalkey (behind Cuala GAA). Please note that the 200k is over an extremely difficult route. It is all climbing with no respite. See here for a profile of all but the last 10k of the course.
The club offers its condolences to the Claire Irwin and Paul O’ Donoghue on the death of Claire’s mother, Margaret. Removal Tuesday 28th April, to Monkstown church, arriving at 5 o’clock. Funeral on Wednesday after 10 o’clock Mass.

Thanks to everyone who took part in the 2009 running of Sorrento’s annual open MTB race and to the many people who helped organise and run the event on the day. The full results are available here.
The first audax date of this years calender is on Sunday April 5th, starting at 8:00am.
The route is designed to be relatively flattish with a routesheet that is easy to follow. The start will be from Bray Wheelers Clubhouse.There will be parking and showering facilities on site. See here for full details, routesheet and entry form.

You know that spring has finally arrived and summer must be just over the horizon when the club league schedule appears. Joanne has once again put together a full and interesting programme.

Aidan is organising a weeked away for our underage MTB riders at the Ballyhoura MTB trails on the weekend of 20- 22 March. This is a great opportunity to enjoy these top class MTB facilities. Demand is already very high so contact Aidan immediately if you are interested. See attached for all the details.
Congratulations to Liam Hayes and Martin McInerney who were the fastest pair in the underage MTB orienteering in Tiglin on Sunday 28th Dec. This was despite the team losing one member when Martin became ill. We hope Martin has made a full recovery.
Fiona O’Callaghan and Fiachradh McDermott were the second fastest team closely followed by Luke O’Callaghan, Caolan Higgins and Fintan Ryan in third.
In the Adult event Karl Thomas was triumphant with the team of David & Robert Mckenna and Matthew Cosgrave in second. Third was the winner 2 years ago Robert Cullen. 20 people participated.

Aidan Ryan is holding a coaching session on Monday 8th December in conjunction with Bray Wheelers. The event will take place in Bray Wheelers Clubhouse at 8:00pm and the focus is on Planning your season for 2009. All members welcome and encouraged to attend.
