Paul S Murray on Lutz is back for a tour this Saturday (21st)

Great to see Lutz again out with us if even only for a few spins. He motored on Saturday's road tour a nd again on Linda's Ballinastoe/Djouce MTB spin on Sunday. On both days Lutz and Conal battled it out for nuttiest climbers/descenders …..a draw I believe! Great fun and happy muddy faces Rumour has it the're doing it again tonight………good luck lads!

Come along and say "Hi" or "Ho" or "Yo" but most of all come along to half-wheel him 'cause he's on a full-suss mt. bike………..it's a very light high-end TREK, all carbon with lock-outs and he is "flying"…..this is a road tour though and he will suffer!! So no excuses, be there or else. Also he will be out on Linda's Sunday MTB spin So if we drill him on Sat. he will be too tired to drill us on Sun. Seeye there !

ONCE OPON A TIME THERE WAS A CYCLIST WHO WAS TRICKED INTO WALKING. NOW THIS CYCLIST THOUGHT HE WAS THE BEES-KNEES WHEN IT CAME TO HARD/DIFFICULT/EXTREME PHYSICIAL ACTIVITIES. BUT A NAUGHTY ELF AND A TRICKY ELF PERSUADED HIM TO TEST HIS LEGENDARY DARING AT WALKING FROM KILLARY TO MAMM CROSS, ALL 42.18654231 KILOMETERS OF IT. NOW CHILDREN LISTEN CAREFULLY TO THIS TALE………..ELVES, FAIRIES AND SUCH FOLK ARE QUITE MISCHIEVOUS AND PLAY TRICKS AND THEY SOMETIMES PUT A " GLAMMER" ON AN INNOCENT SOUL……….YES CHILDREN , ME. IT ALL STARTED BY A LAKE. A SINISTER BODY OF WATER TO BE SURE. WE HEADED WEST, WE HEADED EAST AND THEN IN CIRCLES UNTIL OUR HERO GOT BLISTERS AND SHORTNESS OF BREATH. ONLY THEN DID THE REAL JOURNEY BEGIN………..INTO THE MISTY MOUNTAINS….WATER WAS IN SCARCE SUPPLY AND THE WAY WAS HARD. DIZZY SPELLS WERE CAST AND OUR HERO STAGGERED OVER ROCKY HILL AND BOGGY GLEN. THE WICKED ELVES SKIPPED AND DANCED AHEAD SMILING AND LAUGHING AND OUR HERO SWORE AND CURSED BUT STILL ENDURED, SUCH WAS HIS STOUT HEART. BUT NEAR THE END WHERE THE MOUNTAIN WAS AT IT'S STEEPEST THE SPELL OF FOOLISHNESS WAS CAST BY THE TRICKSIE ELVES……..OUR HERO CLIMBED FASTER THAN ALL BUT JUST AT THE TOP THE SPELL OF PELVIC-LOCK-UP WAS CAST AND OUR HERO BEGAN TO CURL INTO THE FETAL POSITION, WHILE STILL WALKING ANOTHER 9KM TO THE FINISH. WHERE HE ROLLED UP INTO A BALL AND WAS UNABLE TO STRAIGHTEN UP AGAIN FOR A WHOLE DAY………I WON'T MENTION THE SPELL OF PUKING UP CHICKEN SOUP !!..YES, CHILDREN……………STAY ON YOUR BIKES….THEY ACT LIKE THE SACRED ROWEN TREE AND WILL PROTECT YOU FROM NAUGHTY ELVES. BUT BEWARE OF ROADS WITH TROLLS.…….THEY CAN CAUSE A PROBLEM OR TWO FOR THE UNWARY CYCLIST. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Well done to all who competed. What I witnessed impressed me greatly. Riders throwing caution to the wind and blasting away and blowing up. A real race at last and great fun. Thanks again to all the marshals and our race sec. Joanne and for once I got a decent handicap. Hill climp champ.ship next Wed. is mine…………'cause none of ye know how to climb or are too lazy and Dave's over the hill………….mine I tell ye……….mine for the taking…..ye bunch of laggards………….I won't even sweat ……………mine……mine….mine……yes yes………all mine!

Big congrats to Roy Bowden on finishing a fine second yesterday in Wexford.

It was with superbe bike handling skills which helped him come through the 75km race only to be just pipped on the line in the A4 event.

Bravo again!!!

What a great day.........so many smiling faces. Tired, challenged, slightly apprehensive faces but happy faces............Mick would love all of it: the sunshine, the adventure, the hawthorn in full blossom, the tea and scones (with jam), cheese and ham sambos, fruit cake, sweet pepper sambos!!, more bananas than a shady republic could eat or produce...........well done all. Fallen comrade : Get better soon Dermot and only take shallow breaths.............no more pot-holing please ( potholing refers to the act of exploring potholes).........really Dermot what was so interesting about that particular pothole???

........................steady on...........language, please! Oh by the way I have your jerseys ..........can ye do a bit of thread work?...........just asking

Big congratulations to Andy Kavanagh for completing his first 400 km ride on Sat 15th. The Paris Brest Paris seed was planted in Andy's head a few months back and since then he has been nurturing it with regular training rides gradually increasing time in the saddle. He heard about the organisers 400 km ride taking place on 15^th (original 400 took place the weekend before) and swallowing all his fears (he would have preferred to have put in a few 200’s before embarking on a 400) jumped in at the deep end and joined us on our wee adventure. He was well prepared re food, clothing, lights and eating and drinking on the bike, having listened to Paul O Donoghue and others words of wisdom. He had a great ride, finished very strong and to top that, finished with a massive grin on his face!! All kudos’ to Andy for taking on, and conquering this challenge. Well done ….look out PBP!!!!
