  • It is with great sadness I found out that Derek had passed-on last Thursday after a long and brave battle with illness. Derek was a member of the club in the 70's and 80's. Always upbeat and ready to make you laugh or ride harder!! Our thoughts are with the love of his life,his wife Jackie, daughter's Claire and Amy and with all his family at this time. Karl and I were cycling past Derek's childhood home last Sunday morning around 8.30 a.m. I said jokingly "Let's call in for Derek" and Karl said he was also thinking of the times we would all meet and ride in to the Park races  or Track together. In fact, on one occasion while looking behind laughing at us on our road bikes while also carrying our track bikes he ran into the back of a No.8 bus!!…….now that was a hoot!………..It was later last Sunday evening Rosa told me the terrible news…… Ar dheis De go raibh a Anam
