wow,
Where do ye both get the time and patience to compose the typing tennis, my HR is eratic just reading it all line by line, let alone between the lines.
Stephen i'll be out Saturday for a bit of "up and over", down and back.
And i guarantee it will not involve any "haute categorie" climbs. Hope to see you and all the lads/gals out in their droves as the season is nearly upon us God help me.
Paul, your words per minute must be up to secretarial standard by now.
Keep up great work, it's great to see the reports up so promptly following the spins.
I love reading them, as i'm sure everyone does!
Oh and for the record, i would of turned off last Saturday too hehehehe
Sally Gap ya mad who…………………………….

Dear Stephen, each tour route will be decided on the day according to the prevailing weather conditions and the ability of the riders who present on the day. The intention was to keep to touring pace for the first 20km approx. Then the riders might form two groups one touring, one training. It really depends on who turns up. I will be looking for tour leaders (the committee decided to share out amongst the members the different tasks reqiured to run the club) and if you are willing to help by leading some of the tours that would be great (and write a tour report on same). If the tour on 6th Feb. suits that would be great. Perhaps in future try not to read too much between the lines of my tour reports, they are written with tongue firmly in cheek. I remain your humble (ego packed away) and obedient servant. Kindest Regards, Paul….. ….stop reading between the lines……

The way the report was written it looked like an ego trip going up the mountains three out of eight riders. And then with people going in different directions it didnt look like people were very happy about the spin. When the spin the previous week was training in a group with purpose i was lead to believe that was the way things were going to be for the next few weeks to the season start. I wasnt out on the spin so i was responding from the way it was written.
One of the reasons for the forum was to keep members informed about the spins and encourage them to be involved and participate. It was recognised that we have members in so many directions doing there own thing and that it would be good to get people together in groups. In reading your article people were in all directions and i wouldnt have thought it very encouraging to newcomers. Going out as a group and coming back as group should be something we aim for. Is next Saturday a Tour or a Training Spin you may need to inform people so they can be prepared.

In fairness to Paul this was a Touring Spin which should often involve a bit of adventuring. Anyone who was out for a training spin decided themselves when to defect from the touring group.
I'll refrain from writing up any reports of training spins (yet) as these can depend a lot on the writer and may differ wildly from the experience of others who may have been there. However two of us had a fabulous steady spin and I'm sure JC was sorry to see me head on when he "had" to stop to look for someone in Ashford and then had to head homewards without any encouragment from some of my front wheel.
p.s. If anyone sees a tiny sliver of glass near the bottom of the Glen let me know. I dropped one somewhere on Saturday morning and it could have been there or possibly slightly earlier.

Who were the other five riders are you trying to put them off. I think people might lose interest in these spins after all the work you and POD put in to develop them. I dont see how those conditions and terrain can be of benefit to anyone at this time of year. You would have some long descents cold and possibly slippy corners. The previous week you were nervous on straight frosty roads on the coast road to Arklow. There are some guys who have some genuine goals they want to acheive and its not only hard training they need its also motivation and encouragement. Us senior and so called experienced riders have and should show some responsibility to young and new riders.
Yours in cycling,
Confused

STARTED WITH EIGHT RIDERS ENDED-UP WITH JUST THREE. BLACK ICE PATCHED THE ROADS RANDOMLY AND LEFT ALL OF US FEELING NERVOUS. SO, SALLYGAP WAS CHOSEN AS THE PLACE TO GO. ONLY ME, MARK AND FRANK MADE THE TOP DUE TO MANY DEFECTIONS! CONDITIONS WERE EXCELLENT AND NO CARS MADE IT VERY ENJOYABLE AS WE COASTED OVER THE DESERTED MOORS TO GLENMACANASS. DEER WERE EVERYWHERE AND SNOW STILL LINGERED IN MANY PLACES. VERY PRETTY AND VERY COLD BUT THE SUN HAD DRIED THE ROADS AND WE DESCENDED TO LARAGH SAFELY AND THEN ON TO CALARY AND HOME. 5 HRS PLUS. THANKS FOR OUR PATIENCE WITH MY 4 PUNCTURES . EVENTUALLY FOUND THE VERY TINY SLIVER OF GLASS THAT WAS CAUSING THE PROB
