We started from the bridge at the Glenview Hotel shortly after 10am on a mission of fun and seeking snowy roads. Those present POD, Paul C, Paul M, Andrew K, Patrick, Dave P, Denis C and Me.
At the top of the Red Lane we met Gillian Peelo who parked at Calary. We went left across by Ballyremon Commons over to Altidore and met up with Carl Thomas heading towards us here. As we were starting on across the road to head over the track across to Drumbawn Carl broke his chain. While he fixed it there was an impromptu snowball fight instigated of course by Gillian "The Messer" Peelo. Much fun was had by all, and then on we headed through some lovely deep fresh snow. A few of us rode across the river the rest went across the small bridge and then on up to the road. Then across the road to head on track straight across by Glendarragh across to the top of Slaughter Hill. We went right towards Roundwood and some of us had the pleasure of witnessing how to fall by the current vet national downhilling champion on a straight stretch of road(i think this was the only crash of the day). One dusted oneself down and on we went again. After about a kilometer we went left by Ballinahinch, halfway across we stopped for another snowball fight started again by guess who, yes you guessed it "The Messer". POD did a handstand just to be different or possibly just burying his head in the snow to ignore the goings on, tut, disgraceful. After PM got enough snowballs thrown at him by everyone we decided to move on across to the Killiskey Roundwood rd.. We went right and around to the right of the Lake. We could'nt go on track around the Lake as snow too deep so went into Roundwood cafe for necessary revitalisation. Then we went up to Lough Dan - Lugalla rd. (CT and DC decided to head for home at this stage as it was around 2pm aprox). At the base of Lugalla we stopped shortly and were amazed to see a Nissan Micra heading up passed us at good speed in deep snow up lugalla, totally crazy as some jeeps seemed just about able. We descended down to junction and went by Ballinastoe over to Djouce. PC and POD headed for Altidore and home at Ballinastoe. At Djouce we went across Calary Commons to Calary. Gillian and Dave had their car here so we said farewell and headed down the Red Lane to our cars at the Glenview. I got home at 5pm so it ended up a bit of an epic you could say. The proof is in the photography done by POD AK SH and DC.
