3 overshoes,5 hats, a ski mask,15 pairs of left gloves and 17 pairs of right gloves (the dominant hand) and Eileen was nearly dressed.Unfortunately at this point everyones was freezing waiting around. After logging into her gps to inform John L of her position in case she didn't have enough gloves we were ready to go.We were accompamied by Neil and Ciara on their first Sorrento spin, at this stage they were wondering would it be possible to get back from the Artic Circle in time for work the next day.
Off we sauntered on the Quill Rd when Stephen Hardy got the idea of going up to the concrete works.Ollie O'Donoghue  seconded it as he hadn't been up that way in a long time and had actually thought about it earlier in the week but didn't quite get around to checking it out on O.S Sheet 67.Up the steep but attractive climb with sweeping panoramic vistas otherwise known as a cul de sac ( except if you're on foot heading up the Sugarloaf which we weren't).Missus Hardy was none to pleased."Thats another fine mess you got me into"  as I dropped the proverbial  piano on Stephen.
A puncture just short of Barrys Bridge saw us taking the hill at Glendarragh to reach higher ground.Thankfully no headless horsemen or restless spirits appeared as I only found out  at the prize presentation that this area was haunted. See what happens when you win nothing I bet you Dave P didn't know that fact.
Eventually we reached the focal point of the tour, the empty resevoir.Well it wasn't as empty as the week before but it was still impressively empty nonetheless.Unfortunately th
e heavy herons were awol or maybe they were just tired of eating fish.Up over Splattoon and onto the club race circuit where Eileen took the imaginary sprint which shows she must be doing some secret training as she was as aerodynamic as a parachute upsidedown.
Made Roundwood for coffee where John L appeared with some more gloves and layers for Eileen.Home via Ballinstoe and Calary.Another good day to be on a bike. The sun shone strongly and there were still enough persistent leaves clinging onto trees to brighten up the vista.Pity the herons didn't show themselves though.
Rose,Clare,Ciara, Jeannie 40 Coats O'Sullivan,Stephen Hardy, John C , David M,Neil and Paul Laurel.
P.S unfortunately some of our colleagues on a Bray run took a tumble on ice near Ashford.Hope that everyone is ok.
